Lauren Bounyavong
Becoming a Relationship Therapist
I have experience working with couples who are at various points of their relationship journey. I am passionate about holding a space in which each partner can feel heard, each partner can increase their level of empathy, and each partner can communicate non-violently. I am here to facilitate a non-judgmental practice zone that will lead to increased connection, heightened intimacy, skills to manage conflict, and stronger relationship health.
Counseling Philosophy
I believe that stuckness comes from not knowing what to do next and facing that unknown alone can be unpleasant or overwhelming. Though we try to do our best in every challenge, it does not always have to be a lonely process. I am here to be a source of education and empowerment as you hold the power of decision-making. I will approach your vulnerability with support as you build your way to your goals.
My Counseling Style and Strengths
I aim to bring a strong sense of hope and safety to our therapy. I’ve described my counseling environment to be a brave space in which clients’ may speak in a language that feels most authentic to them. As a collaborator, I will walk with you through the process and enhance understanding in situations. My role is to meet your needs with grace, warmth, and genuineness.
Professional Counseling Background
In the past two years, I have been seeing clients through a non-profit organization based in Los Angeles. I have served both individuals and couples to treat anxiety, depression, trauma, grief/loss, adjustment, and relational issues. My work has advocated to provide culturally sensitive services to folks of the 2SLGBTQIA+ experience, immigration/diaspora experience, multicultural experience, and more.
